Our History

A sacred journey
from foundation to fulfillment

In the seventies, there being no Orthodox Syrian Church in Mangalore, 13 Orthodox Syrian families who had come to Mangalore for jobs or business, met on 9th June 1976 to discuss the means to form a congregation.

As per the group's request, His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Mathew I, Metropolitan of the Orthodox Syrian Christian Church accorded permission for the new congregation. It was decided to name the congregation after "Parumala Thirumeni".

The first service
was conducted on Sunday, 15th August 1976 in the Student Christian Movement hall of the C.S.I. at Balmatta, by the Late Very Rev Alexanthryose Cor-Episcopa (Fr P.K.Chandy). Thereafter, a service was conducted on the second Sunday, of every month.
